|January 2024 Newsletter
Welcome to our new Monthly Newsletter!
We are re-launching our Monthly Newsletter to let you know what is happening in the shop (both in-person and online) and in our small town of Ontario, Oregon.
We are discontinuing our old Saturday Sampler program due to too few participants, but never fear, we are replacing that program you had to pay for and register for with a new free Quilt Block Sampler Program.
At the beginning of each month, I will send out an email newsletter, in which I will include a picture of a quilt block. I will also link to my new library of Quilt Block Tutorials. Feel free to make this block from your own stash, in any size you desire.
If you use fabrics which we can identify as having been purchased from Charmed Needles at any time, you make at least a 12" block, and you finish it by the following month's Zoom meeting, I will give you $3.75 in store credit. That is the average price of my Fat Quarters, so you will essentially get a free Fat Quarter if you make the block!
There is no charge for this program, and there is no commitment for you to do every single block. Make the blocks you want to make and have time to make, then bring your finished block into the shop, email me a picture of it, send me a Facebook message with a picture, or join us in the Zoom meeting to show off your block. We also want to see what other projects you are working on, so be sure to bring your Show and Tell to the Zoom meeting.
I am hosting the meeting over Zoom instead of in person because I know that many of my customers aren't local. Of course, feel free to come to the shop if you are local at the time of the meeting, and we can have a hybrid online/in person meeting. I will also have a new Zoom link each month for a little added security since the link is going out to so many hundred customers, so be sure to check for the new link each month.
January 2024 Quilt Sampler Block - Big Dipper
The January 2024 Quilt Sampler Block is named Big Dipper. It is made from four Quarter Square Triangle units. If you need help making these units, you will find some help in my Quilt Block Tutorial library.
If you would like to join our community in a Zoom meeting at 5PM, MST, Saturday, January 20, we would love to meet you!
Join us over Zoom to talk about the new Monthly Quilt Block Sampler program. No block is due to be finished this month, but join us to learn how the program will work.
Christina Barron is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.

We still have enough supplies for one more person to join this Block of the Month program. It has already started, but we will be happy to help you get caught up!
This is a nine-month Block of the Month pattern for the advanced beginning quilter. It features Vertex, a new collection of blender fabrics by QT Fabrics. With calming blues, greens, purples, and grays, the quilt will be perfect to snuggle under during the cooler months while dreaming of Tuscany. The pattern is done in color with lots of diagrams and video tutorials for every month.
This 9-Month Block of the Month Program will be held at 11 am on the First Saturday of each month, from October 2023 - June 2024. Bring your sewing machine and make your block in the shop each month. If you prefer to simply purchase your monthly kit and make it at home, that's ok, too!
Each month's kit will include cuts of fabric that are big enough to make that month's blocks. Be sure to save any leftover pieces from these strips, as you may need to use them in future months. In June 2024, not only will you receive the fabric for the last block, but also you will receive the fabric for the binding and the backing of your quilt. In total, with all the monthly kits, you will receive almost 22 yards of fabric.
The pattern also includes a bonus pattern for pillow shams, which you can probably make from the extra pieces of your fabric, if you don't need to use them to fix mistakes while you are making the main quilt.
This is a traditional BOM program, in which you will pay $38.06 for your kit each month, after you pay the $10.28 registration fee. If you are not in the area, you will need to pay the monthly shipping cost for your kit, too.
Finished quilt size: 101" x 101"

Weekly Open Sew
Want to stitch and socialize? Have a brief question on any technique? Bring any fiber arts project and come down to the shop to work on it. Open Stitch is every Friday during business hours.
The third Friday of most months, we extend Open Stitch late into the night, and we call it Quilt Till You Wilt. We will stay until the last person leaves. Bring one or several fiber arts projects and come socialize through the night. Feel free to bring food to share, as well.
Monthly Lace Day
Join us the Second Tuesday of each month to make lace! All types of lace: Bobbin Lace, Tatted Lace (both Shuttle and Needle), Knitted Lace, and Crocheted Lace. All skill levels are welcome, we usually have some skilled lace-makers here who are willing to teach beginners. There is no charge for this social lace-making event.
For January 2024, we moved this event to January 16.
