February 2024 Quilt Sampler Block - Double Sawtooth

The February 2024 Quilt Sampler Block is named Double Sawtooth. It is made with two different sizes of squares and Flying Geese. The inner squares and Flying Geese are half the size of the outer ones, with the very center square being the same size as the outer corner squares. If you need help making Flying Geese, check my Quilt Block Tutorial library.

If you use fabrics which we can identify as having been purchased from Charmed Needles at any time, you make at least a 12" block, and you finish it by March's Zoom meeting, I will give you $3.75 in store credit. That is the average price of my Fat Quarters, so you will essentially get a free Fat Quarter if you make the block!

There is no charge for this program, and there is no commitment for you to do every single block. Make the blocks you want to make and have time to make, then bring your finished block into the shop, email me a picture of it, send me a Facebook message with a picture, or join us in the Zoom meeting to show off your block. We also want to see what other projects you are working on, so be sure to bring your Show and Tell to the Zoom meeting.

Join the community Zoom meeting so show off your finished January Block and whatever else you have been working on:

Christina Barron is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.

Dreaming of Tuscany Block of the Month

We still have enough supplies for two more people to join this Block of the Month program. It has already started, but we will be happy to help you get caught up!

This is a nine-month Block of the Month pattern for the advanced beginning quilter. It features Vertex, a new collection of blender fabrics by QT Fabrics. With calming blues, greens, purples, and grays, the quilt will be perfect to snuggle under during the cooler months while dreaming of Tuscany. The pattern is done in color with lots of diagrams and video tutorials for every month.

This 9-Month Block of the Month Program will be held at 11 am on the First Saturday of each month, from October 2023 - June 2024. Bring your sewing machine and make your block in the shop each month. If you prefer to simply purchase your monthly kit and make it at home, that's ok, too!

Each month's kit will include cuts of fabric that are big enough to make that month's blocks. Be sure to save any leftover pieces from these strips, as you may need to use them in future months. In June 2024, not only will you receive the fabric for the last block, but also you will receive the fabric for the binding and the backing of your quilt. In total, with all the monthly kits, you will receive almost 22 yards of fabric.

The pattern also includes a bonus pattern for pillow shams, which you can probably make from the extra pieces of your fabric, if you don't need to use them to fix mistakes while you are making the main quilt.

This is a traditional BOM program, in which you will pay $38.06 for your kit each month, after you pay the $10.28 registration fee. If you are not in the area, you will need to pay the monthly shipping cost for your kit, too.

Finished quilt size: 101" x 101"

Skill Level: Competent or Advanced Beginner

American Pie Block of the Month

American Pie, a new Block-of-the-month designed by Wendy Sheppard from Ivory Spring for @QTFabrics, is coming soon!

This 6-month program for confident beginners is a great way to move forward in your skill-building and quilting as each block is made in two colorways. This modern twist on a traditional pattern features Dots & Stripes & More by QT Fabrics.

This 6-Month Block of the Month Program will be held at 11 am on the First Saturday of each month, from April 2024 - September 2024.

In September 2024, not only will you receive the fabric for the last block, but also you will receive the fabric for the binding and the backing of your quilt. In total, with all the monthly kits, you will receive over 21 yards of fabric!

This is a traditional BOM program, in which you will pay the initial registration fee of $9.47 to reserve your place, then $52.60 for your kit each month. If you are not in the area, you will need to pay the monthly shipping cost for your kit, too.

Because no one is perfect, an optional Oops Bundle of 10 Fat Quarters and 5 Fat Eighths will be available for $43.97, if you want to be prepared to fix mistakes you might make.

Finished quilt size: 57.5" x 74.5"

2024 Treasure Shop Hop

Check the Shop Hop webpage frequently for the latest details: https://www.treasureshophop.com/

The Annual Treasure Hop is here!

This year we have made some changes and we hope you like them!

  • We will NOT be selling charity quilt blocks, but we will still be supporting Project Linus and Quilts of Valor
  • If you would like to support these charities as well as be eligible for discounts and prizes, you will need to purchase a Passport for $10
  • You may purchase as many passports as you wish, or you may simply do the Hop without any passport.
  • Each year on the passports, there is a coupon good for a discount off from one item at each shop during the Hop. This year, we have increased the discount from 10% to 20%!
  • We will be doing away with participation prizes, instead we will have fewer but bigger prizes. The Grand Prize will be a new sewing machine!
  • You will need to get your passport(s) stamped at every shop to be eligible for prizes, but you won't be guaranteed a small prize just for completing your passport. The more passports you purchase, the more chances you have to win prizes!
  • We will not be giving out special Shop Hop bags this year. We have reallocated the funds that would normally purchase the bags to instead purchase better prizes!
  • Instead of having a color theme (since we aren't making coordinating charity blocks), each shop has chosen one quilt pattern from Villa Rosa Designs. During the Hop, each person who comes in to each shop will get a pattern card for that quilt pattern for free. The pattern cards will be distributed one per person, regardless of whether the Hopper has a passport or not, and regardless how many passports the person has, they will only get one pattern card from each shop.
What remains the same:
  • The Hop is ten days long: April 18-27
  • Regardless of any shop's normal business hours, all shops in the Hop will be open from at least 10AM to 6PM each day of the shop, with the exception of Sunday, when the shops will be open 11AM to 5PM. Shops always have the option to be open longer hours than these, but we will for sure be open at least these hours.
    • *Sundays hours are optional hours, some shops may choose to take a rest day and be closed on Sunday, April 21.
  • During the Hop, all shops will be pet-free. We will not be having our pets in our shops for those ten days, and we respectfully ask that you leave your pets home, too.
    • *Genuine, well-trained Service Animals are always welcome.

Weekly Open Sew

Want to stitch and socialize? Have a brief question on any technique? Bring any fiber arts project and come down to the shop to work on it. Open Stitch is every Friday during business hours.

The third Friday of most months, we extend Open Stitch late into the night, and we call it Quilt Till You Wilt. We will stay until the last person leaves. Bring one or several fiber arts projects and come socialize through the night. Feel free to bring food to share, as well.

Monthly Lace Day

Join us the Second Tuesday of each month to make lace! All types of lace: Bobbin Lace, Tatted Lace (both Shuttle and Needle), Knitted Lace, and Crocheted Lace. All skill levels are welcome, we usually have some skilled lace-makers here who are willing to teach beginners. There is no charge for this social lace-making event.
