July 2024 Quilt Sampler Block - Dutch Rose
The July 2024 Quilt Sampler Block is named Dutch Rose. It is made with Squares, Half Square Triangles, Flying Geese, and 3-Color Flying Geese. If you draw an imaginary 8x8 grid over this block, you will see that the small squares and HSTs are equal to 1 grid square, the Flying Geese are equal to 2 grid squares, and and the center square is equal to 4 grid squares. If you need help making these, check my Quilt Block Tutorial library.
If you use fabrics which we can identify as having been purchased from Charmed Needles at any time, you make at least a 12" block, and you finish it by August 17, I will give you $3.75 in store credit. That is the average price of my Fat Quarters, so you will essentially get a free Fat Quarter if you make the block! And you have approximately six weeks to make the block
There is no charge for this program, and there is no commitment for you to do every single block. Make the blocks you want to make and have time to make, then bring your finished block into the shop, email me a picture of it, or send me a Facebook message with a picture.
Your June Block (Barrister's Block) is due July 20.

Remember how fun it was to look through a kaleidoscope as a kid? Well, now you can enjoy making the Kaleidoscope Block of the Month quilt designed by Stephannie Soebbing of Quilt Addicts Anonymous. Featuring Spotsy by QT Fabrics, the tone-on-tone meandering dots bring a great textural look to the quilt. Pre-order now to make sure you get your space! Classes start October 2024. We have everything you need to make this gorgeous quilt and will guide you along the way! This 12-Month Block of the Month Program will be held at 11 am on the First Saturday of each month, from October 2024 - September 2025. Bring your sewing machine and make your block in the shop each month. If you prefer to simply purchase your monthly kit and make it at home, that's ok, too! You will get the whole pattern booklet in the first month, and each month's kit will include cuts of fabric that are big enough to make that month's blocks. Be sure to save any leftover pieces from these strips, as you may need to use them in future months. In September 2025, not only will you receive the fabric for the last block, but also you will receive the fabric for the binding and the backing of your quilt. In total, with all the monthly kits, you will receive almost 20 yards of fabric. This is a traditional BOM program, in which you will pay the initial $10.03 registration fee to save your place in the class, then $27.87 for your kit each month. If you are not in the area, you will need to pay the monthly shipping cost for your kit, too. Because nobody is perfect, you can also purchase an optional Oops Bundle of 9 Fat Quarters and 6 Fat Eights for $46.60 to have on hand to fix any "Oops" you make. Finished quilt size: 96" x 96"

Weekly Open Sew
Want to stitch and socialize? Have a brief question on any technique? Bring any fiber arts project and come down to the shop to work on it. Open Stitch is every Friday during business hours. The third Friday of most months, we extend Open Stitch late into the night, and we call it Quilt Till You Wilt. We will stay until the last person leaves. Bring one or several fiber arts projects and come socialize through the night. Feel free to bring food to share, as well.
