Here at Kreinik, we’re all about thread. It is a family-owned business that started in Jerry and Estelle Kreinik's home in the early 1970s. Estelle was a needleworker and created one of the first needlework organizers on the market. My mom and dad created backgammon boards, little chair doorstops, and other utilitarian items using needlework. In the late 1970s, they started vending silk threads and then creating metallic braids.  From there the fiber business kicked into high gear. In 1983, when I joined the company, we moved out of the house and into our present facility. We recently opened our factory outlet store and started giving tours of our facility to further give the crafter a greater appreciation as to how our product is made.

Today Kreinik makes a variety of silk and metallic threads for needleworkers, crafters, scrapbookers, quilters, fiber artists, fly fishermen—even fashion houses like Kate Spade and costume designers from “Game of Thrones.” We pretty much always have threads on the brain. It’s how we look at the world. As I’ve always said, “Threads Visualize Thoughts.”

Kreinik Mfg has proudly fed and nourished the craft and creative industries for 40+ years. We’ve served on many industry boards, taught hundreds of classes, appeared on numerous television shows, and wound millions of spools of thread. Our manufacturing facility & customer service offices are located in the United States in Parkersburg, West Virginia.  We have a hardworking staff of creative people who are dedicated to serving you.

Some people call it string, some call it a fiber; we tend to call the thread by braids and ribbons because that's how they are made. But any way you call them, Kreinik threads are fun embellishments that can be used anywhere to make your projects more colorful and expressive. Kreinik continues to deliver on a promised commitment: offer quality, affordable products to inspire your handmade creations.

Happy Crafting,

Doug Kreinik, President, Kreinik Mfg
