Julia Williams is an illustrator and textile designer with a passion for sewing and capturing the world around her on paper. Her mother taught her to sew at a young age- a habit and a hobby that she learned to cherish as a powerful tool of self-expression.
After earning a degree in Plant Sciences from UCSC (a path that taught her the skills of observational sketching), she went on to study textile design at FIDM where she learned how to apply her art to an industry that she had been passionate about since childhood.
Julia is lucky enough to have had several careers in the fabric and quilting world- from retail staff to educator to product development. She loves working with sewists and quilters hands-on to help them develop their ideas with the most inspiring fabrics. She believes that everyone deserves to feel empowered by the act of crafting something with their own hands.
Julia currently lives in Los Angeles with her cat/studio assistant Stitch.
