Three-Color Quarter-Square Triangles 4 at a Time

• Choose which fabric will have two triangles in each finished Quarter-Square Triangle, and cut two squares of this fabric using the measurement you calculated above. Call this Fabric A.
• Cut one square each of the two other fabrics that will be in the QST using the same measurement. Call these Fabrics B and C.

1. Make HSTs
   1. On the back of the Fabric A squares, draw a single diagonal line.
   2. Stack one of the Fabric A squares on the Fabric B square, right sides together.
   3. Sew a seam ¼" on either side of the drawn line.
   4. Cut the two halves apart on the drawn line.
   5. Open each HST unit, press the seam allowance towards Fabric A, and trim the dog-ears.
   6. Repeat steps b through e with the other Fabric A square and the Fabric C square.
   7. You will have two pairs of matching HSTs, one pair of Fabrics A and B, and one pair of Fabrics A and C.
2. Make QSTs
   1. On the back of each Fabric A/B square, draw a single diagonal line which crosses the previous seam.
   2. Stack one Fabric A/B square on top of one Fabric A/C square, right sides together, and so that the seams nest. Make sure the HSTs are turned 180° from each other, so that the Fabric A triangles are NOT laying directly on top of one another.
   3. Sew a seam ¼" on either side of the drawn line.
   4. Cut the two halves apart on the drawn line.
   5. Open each QST unit, press the seam allowances to one side, and trim the dog-ears.
   6. Repeat steps b through e with the remaining HSTs.
